Overal buoyancy
E/Xplorer is slightly buoyant and more or less weight-balanced by design. Although due to a variety of factors, every built piece varies and fine-tuning is always needed. Even though the craft has a powerful algorithm to keep itself balanced at all times using precise thrusters, we want to reduce the force (and save power) that has to be used to do so. Our goal, then, is to fine-tune buoyancy to have the craft as little buoyant as possible while it still stays afloat, and at the same time have the craft floating as balanced as possible. For that, we can use additional weights.
Additional weights
Weights for fine-tuning are best cast from lead. With our 3D printed form, we are going to create the final form by pouring plaster and then casting lead into that plaster form.
